Emergency support

  • Kids Helpline – 1800 55 1800, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Free online and phone counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25.
  • Lifeline – 13 11 14, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Free online, phone or text support for those experiencing personal crisis, contemplating suicide, or caring for someone in crisis.

National support services

  • QLife : 1800 184 527. Free, anonymous telephone and webchat support and referral for people wanting to talk about a range of issues including sexuality, identity, gender, bodies, feelings or relationships.
  • Headspace : videos, resources and support for LGBTIQ young people (aged 12 to 25) and those questioning their sexuality or gender identity. Services include phone support, online support, and queer support groups.
  • Intersex Peer Support Australia (IPSA) : information about intersex and online support groups for intersex people.

NSW support services

  • Twenty 10 : Metro Support: 02 8594 9555; Rural freecall: 1800 65 2010. Social support, counselling, housing, legal help, mental health in Sydney for LGBTIQ young people. Services include a helpline, phone support and webchat.
  • The Gender Centre : provides services, resources, community groups, and activities to people with gender issues, their partners family members and friends in NSW. They are also an accommodation service.
  • ACON : free call: 1800 063 060. Health promotion organisation specialising in HIV prevention, HIV support and LGBTIQ health.
  • TransHub : ACON’s digital information and resource platform for all trans and gender diverse people in NSW, their family/friends, allies and health providers. Provides information about social, medical and legal aspects of gender affirmation, as well as health and support resources.
  • Trans Pride Australia : social and support groups for trans and gender diverse people and their loved ones.
